On Saturday, September 20th the last day of IPM 2008, there will be
a one of kind auction featuring some unique items that have been
part of the Match. The auction will be held at 12:15 at the Gazebo
in the Foodland Country Courtyard located on 1st street. Items to be
auctioned are the 10 foot 8 sided Gazebo that can be taken apart in
sections. The gazebo was constructed by the Grade 11 Shop Class at
Walkerton District Secondary school and comes complete with an
assembly manual.
There will be a picnic table made from Baleboard which is high
quality recycled plastic lumber. There will also be twelve wooden
backless benches from 4' to 10' long crafted by the local Mennonite
community that would be a great addition to any deck.
Little Bruce, the official mascot of IPM 2008 will be auctioned off
with proceeds to the Bruce County Cattlemen’s Association who
purchased the bull for the Bruce County IPM Committee to use to
promote IPM 2008. This 6 foot fibreglass statue has been in more
parades then you will ever attend in a lifetime.
You will also have the opportunity to bid on picnic tables ranging
in lengths of 6, 7 and 8 feet that will be a part of the Guinness
World Book of Records attempt picnic table to be constructed in the
Bruce County tent by the Canadian Foodgrains Bank folks. Proceeds of
one table will go to IPM 2008 and remaining 8 to be auctioned will
go to the Foodgrains Bank.
Recent additions to the auction due to technical difficulties of the
on-line auction are the original artwork for the 2008 IPM poster by
Bruce County artist Ken Thornburn; Ipm 2008 Collector trucks # 7 and
# 9 which will be the last two offered for the public to purchase as
#1 and #2 trucks will be auctioned at the Opening Ceremonies and the
RV Tent; and all hockey fans will want to bid on the IPM 2008 hockey
jersey autographed by Doug Gilmour, Marcel Dionne, Dave Ellett, Rick
Ley, Dale Hawerchuck, Paul Coffey, Steve Thomas, Don Lever, Chris
Bolton (main actor on TV program ”rent a goalie”) Jim Cuddy ( from
the Blue Rodeo Band) Kevin and Clark Pollock, both Bruce County
natives who referee in the NHL and OHA series respectively.
Yokassippi Auctions of Teeswater will be conducting the auction and
all items must remain on site until 5:00 on Saturday. For more
