New Ontario Queen of the Furrow Crowned

2008 Ontario Queen of the Furrow Katie Cheesmond crowned Jenn Megens of Durham Region the new 2009 Ontario Queen of the Furrow to represent Temiskaming Region next year.
The other finalists include:
Lisa McKay of Oxford County, First Runner-up;
April Peart of Haldimand County; Second Runner-up
Pat Grotenhuis of Lambton and Wellington Counties own Amelia Taylor were also selected finalists.
In the Plowing component of the contest, Bruce County Queen of the Furrow Carrie Waugh was honoured placing fourth from the group of 34 Plowmen Association Ambassadors.   Top Plow Queen was Sarah Hastings from Brant-Six Nations and Miss Friendship Diana VanderMeulen of Hastings County.

IPM has busy day
IPM 2008 was able to show a Trade delegation from Japan the displays, entertainment and magnitude of an International Plowing Match.
Thursday the streets appeared to be mostly full of show visitors. A 3 day total of attendee’s is 45,000 over the three days.

Plowing Awards to be given out: "Ontario Power Generation Plowing Awards of Excellence"
Friday night, plowmen and women competing in Plowing Classes organized by the Ontario Plowmen’s Association will be honoured for their efforts at the Community Centre in Teeswater. Friday is the final day of competitive Plowing for the IPM Horse, Tractor, Antique and Reversible Plowing Classes before a special Junior Match is held Saturday.

Excitement is still building as closing day draws near

With the final day of the IPM approaching Saturday, excitement is building with the addition of a Parade Saturday morning at 10am.  Featuring the IPM Exhibitors and special guests the parade will be visible from various streets of Tented City as it works it way throughout the site.
 
An Auction will be held on site Saturday, the IPM's closing day at 12:15pm.  Featured items include a Gazebo made by local High School Students, the site of the event at the Foodland Country Courtyard in the north west corner of Tented City.    Also available by Auction, the Bruce County IPM Mascot from the Bruce County Cattlemen's Association "Baby Bruce", the IPM Poster original artwork, 2 of the collector IPM Trucks, an IPM Hockey Jersey with 13 NHL and celebrity signatures, plus specially made picnic tables, benches and other IPM items.
 
Closing Ceremonies will be held Saturday at 4pm in conjunction with an awards presentation on the Main Stage for the Junior Plowing Match.
