IPM 08 Headquarters - It is with great delight that the International
Plowing Match 2008 committee received a cheque from the Ontario Power
Generation (OPG) in the amount of $100,000. This generous cash donation
will go towards sponsoring a major event at the IPM 2008 to be held on
the outskirts of Teeswater on September 16 to 20, 2008. For their cash
donation, OPG will be given the recognition of being a “Pride of Bruce”
sponsor. This level of sponsorship is new to IPM. It was established by
the hosting IPM 2008 committee to recognize significant contributions
made by local corporate partners like OPG.
Making the presentation on behalf of OPG was Kevin Orr. Many members of
the IPM 2008 executive committee were on hand to receive the donation.
It is anticipated that it will take over $3 million to host this event
but it has been calculated it has an economic spin off to the local
economy of $20 million. Bruce County successfully hosted the IPM in 1976
and 1993. Excess proceeds of the last match, supported the first rural
CAT Scan machine at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Walkerton
which has been a huge benefit to Bruce county residents and also many
residents of South Western Ontario.
The presentation was made Wednesday at the IPM Headquarters downtown
Teeswater. More information on the International Plowing Match can be
received by calling 1-877-IPM-2008 or visiting the website:
